Former DOKKEN Guitarist: 'LYNCH MOB Is Not Breaking Up'
July 25, 2003Former DOKKEN guitarist George Lynch has issued a statement dispelling rumors of a breakup within the ranks of his current band, LYNCH MOB.
The following is George's statement in its entirety:
"Contrary to what you may read on the Internet, the band is not breaking up. The truth is that [vocalist] Robert Mason has been involved in a hit & run motorcycle accident and has sustained 2nd-degree burns over a large portion of his upper body. This has forced the cancellation of a few shows that we had planned on doing in August. I know that you fans all like up-to-the-minute news as to what is happening with everyone, but it isn't always possible. Robert is a very private person and didn't want to make a big deal out of this, but after reading that the band was breaking up decided to let everyone know what the real situation was. In the future, as has always been the case, pertinent information concerning myself or the band will be posted here when it is official. You have to understand that management, band members, [webmaster] Lee Watters or myself do not have the time to respond to every rumor or theory that comes up, but we will post the facts, when it is appropriate. We are currently planning a few shows at the end of September (pending Robert's full recovery) and a tour in the fall is in the works. In the meantime, let's all focus all of our positive energy towards Robert and wish him a full and speedy recovery so we can get on with doing what LYNCH MOB does best."
